My name is Bryn and I work for a major digital documentary series with billions of video views and millions of followers that is casting a new episode about dads who are proud of their kids, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity. We want to share a story of acceptance, and a message that love is love is love. Participants will get a chance to be part of a large float during LA Pride parade, and we’ll feature their experience in one of our upcoming short documentaries.

Must be 21 or older to apply. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Proud Dads LA Pride.” Have them include their name, their parent’s name, and a description of them both. We look forward to learning more! Thanks for your time.

Hi!

I’m part of Project Ava, a nonprofit that publishes first-person narratives and personal essays that often go unseen in the mainstream media.

We are currently looking for stories centered around Dia de los Muertos. I thought someone in your organization or who your org has worked with might have an interesting story to share around this – do you mind asking around to see if anyone might be interested in writing for us?

If anyone is interested and would like to learn more about what this would entail, please have them email Madison Brunk at [email protected].

Thanks and take care!

Prop 8 is a teachable moment: dialysis is actually obsolete. I published how to prevent it in 2002 (paper . #1 at www.genomed.com/publications). But nobody in healthcare wants to (paper #9 at same URL). In effect, dialysis is MEDICAL SLAVERY, since ppl of color go on the kidney machine 3 to 5 times more than whites.

My name is Diego Martinez. I’m a digital content producer, journalist and writer originally from Venezuela but now based in San Francisco, CA.

I’m reaching out to the Latino Equality Alliance in hopes that the organization can support the crowdfunding campaign for NOS—a global queer Latinx media platform that aims to bridge the digital divide between the LGBTQ2+ Latinx communities in the United States, Central and South America.

You see, as an openly gay Latino man, I had become increasingly frustrated with the absence of a true platform that would showcase all sides of my community, where fun content that I could relate with would coexist with meaningful, thought-provoking articles and videos. And not on a convenient basis—more like every single day.

It has proved to be a very ambitious task, even if you add on the importance of keeping track of our communities in Central and Latin America, where the fight for equality and an accurate portrayal of gay, bi, trans and non-binary individuals is still ongoing.

The ever-evolving media landscape has transformed with the pace of today’s society and although I do recognize some efforts to demonstrate diversity, it’s still not over and done with. The more I surround myself with my people, with their feelings, concerns, and desires, the more I realize this vehicle is not only needed but represents a unique opportunity to create community—within the community.

Since we kicked off the campaign on Indiegogo last week, we have received a great deal of support from our community. Still, we would really appreciate if the Latino Equality Alliance could spread the word on NOS through its member list and social media channels.

Thank you so much for your contribution to the LGBTQ2+ community and hope to hear from you very soon.

Evening,

My name is Vellah Jones and I am the author of the newly released book: Dear Congress, Voices of American Children Currently Being Abused by Conversion Therapy. I am trying to spread the word about the book to promote momentum for the movement. I was hoping to connect with the Latino Equality Alliance in hopes of obtaining your consideration for support for the book in some public form, be it in social media or any other outlet. Below is the press release sent out to media outlets earlier this week. Please feel free to write me anytime.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Powerful Memoir Examines Conversion Therapy Through The Stories Of Twelve Juvenile Victims

New York, NY, August 27, 2018 — You might have thought that "conversion” therapy practices on children in America would have been outlawed years ago. You’d be wrong. This state-sanctioned practice to try to change a child’s sexual orientation or gender identity is alive and well—and living in the United States.

Vellah Jones’ new book, Dear Congress: Voices of American Children Currently Being Abused by Conversion Therapy, bravely pulls back the curtain on conversion therapy through the voices of 12 American children currently undergoing what amounts to little more than legalized torture. Jones, who sees a correlation between conversion therapy and child abuse, provides examples of the occurrence of neglect, as well as physical, psychological, sexual and emotional abuse during conversion therapy sessions by mental health professionals.

“These 12 high school children represent tens of thousands of children across the country,” Jones says. "This is a practice that’s been proven to have no success in changing a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity and is known to impair a child’s development and result in increased juvenile homelessness, addiction and suicide.

As Jones’ first public effort to shine a light on the horrors of conversion therapy and to effect positive legislative change, Dear Congress is a call to action for everyone to press for an end to conversion therapy practices on juveniles.

Dear Congress: Voices of American Children Currently Being Abused by Conversion Therapy

Release date: August 27, 2018

Published in the USA

ISBN–13: 978-1725081345

ISBN–10: 1725081342

TIP SHEET

Reviews of Dear Congress:

Bruce Kluger, columnist, USA Today: "Conversion therapy is the waterboarding of impressionable young minds, a sanctioned modern-day torture so ignorant of science and abuse in practice that in 2018 it continues to waste the lives of millions around the world, nearly 700,000 in America alone. With their landmark book, Vellah Jones and her ’Children’s Committee’ have done more than simply expose the politics and perversion … (they) also reveal, bit by painful bit, the human toll suffered by its innocent victims, while simultaneously providing them a potent forum—and steely solidarity—to fight back and abolish this psychological brutality.”

Kathryn Smerling, PhD, licensed family therapist, New York City: "I wish this book did not exist, that state and federal law prohibited the horrible psychological, physical and emotional abuse of conversion therapy. Hopefully, this book will help to end these practices, and for all.”

I hope to hear from you & thank you for your time,

vellah jones

To whom this may reach,

Hope you are doing well. My name is Gabriela Meza and I am part of the Latino Heritage Internship Program working with the National Park Service to translate park publications from English to Spanish. The purpose of my internship is to make the parks more accessible for Spanish-speaking communities. In order to do the best job I can, I would like to have a conversation with your community about the National Park Service publications. I personally developed two models for these meetings, one that is a 20-30 minute conversation and another that is a 45-60 minute workshop with an activity. This is also with the intention of creating new park material to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking folk and break the language barrier in National Parks. Please let me know if this is something the Latino Equity Alliance would be interested in and please ask away if you have any questions. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi, I live in Siskiyou county, CA and am hoping to tap into a local organization helping Hispanic and migrant youth or families in my area. I identify as queer and speak both Spanish and English and do a lot of work with local children. I live very remotely, but I would be happy to commute to anywhere in Humboldt, Siskiyou or Jackson (OR) counties. Do you have any contacts that you could suggest for me to volunteer with?

Thanks for any tips or information you are able to share…

Genderf*kation: A Gender Emancipation

Our mission is to inform, educate, and dialogue with audiences and allies who may invest themselves in the pursuit of equal justice and respect for individuals and groups of non-conforming gender/sexual identities.

Story Synopsis

Genderf*kation: A Gender Emancipation, is the story of six individuals and their journey through the social, religious and political landscapes of a society that struggles to understand or allows for gender variations. This film breaks through the gender stereotypes and historical gender ideologies to liberate our bodies, minds and spirits from our own social Gender Dysphoria. It explores real life concepts, issues, and reactions to individuals who self identify and/or fall outside of traditional gender and sexual identities.

We focus on gender identity, aiming to present the life experiences of Trans, Queer, and Gender variant individuals and their respective connections to and disconnects from societal, religious and political institutions and personal relationships.

Thank You,

Donovan Harmel, Genderf*kation: A Gender Emancipation

Hi everyone! I am a graduate student at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California am conducting a short survey on relationships between sexual orientation and sexual functioning in cis-gender women (I wish I could have included more folx but my dissertation chair is a stickler when it comes to variable control). Anyway, I’ve been getting a ton of responses from heterosexual women and am looking for more queer representation. If you have a few minutes and are interested in contributing to my study, please click on the link below:

Information you share will help psychologists better understand sexual functioning in women and thus provide high quality sexual health care to those in need. For more information, feel free to contact me, Kirsten Fox, M.A., at [email protected]. Thank you so much!
